Kid D – “Take Me Away”

Renowned for his unmistakably immersive productions for the likes of Wiley, Skepta and Devlin, Lewisham native Kid D now takes to the mic for his debut vocal single, “Take Me Away”. The bittersweet track serves as a stream-of-consciousness social commentary, ultimately offering listeners a message of empowerment.

Lacing a self-produced instrumental furnished with delicate keys, reversed percussion and flourishes of soulful vocals from Vai Patri, he slickly glides over the beat, showcasing newly revisited rap skills first developed during his formative years on the radio circuit.

The track serves as the lead single from Kid D’s forthcoming, genre-straddling project Substance, set to feature equally profound collaborations with Novelist and Ghetts among others.

“Take Me Away” is out now via digital stores and streaming services. Listen in full below, and watch out for the song’s accompanying visuals in the coming weeks.
